| Gothic Birthday Weekend |
|
Friday 28th May - Caught the train up to York to see my man for the first time in a while (he had been a busy little globe-trotting bunny) and I was both excited and a little nervous. It had also been his birthday so I had presents and cakes in my suitcase as well as some new shoes (for myself), gig tickets and club nights planned too. Â Got in a bit late and after a quick change, a quick beer (or two) we had some present exchanging to do. I got a snowglobe (yes, I collect them) with a Goddess in, some Baclava (lovely Greek cake-stuff), an unprouncable drink (that we would sample later) and a top from Athens shop Remember. which I never would have chosen for myself but it looked really good on. Boy done good. I had done a bit of a gothic diy birthday - a handmade (not by me) bat birthday card, comissioned a matching lolita inspired cuff and choker from my friend Bonnie Baker and handmade (yes, by me) cupcakes. They were decorated with some of his favourite things, Jack Skellington, bats, spiders (okay and some of my favourite things) and cobwebs. Pretty sure he liked them ;) Â Then we got in the cab planning on going to the 80's Matchbox B-Line Disaster gig at the Duchess (which I had tickets for)...but by that time it was a bit too late...so we ditched it and went straight to the Bay Horse for Deviation Relaunch Party. We met friends, drank beers, got a few stares and I danced like an idiot. Fairly standard evening then! Finished off the evening with a few more beers and some jazz and blues and talking until dawn. Saturday 29th May - Woke up a little worse for wear and sorted hangovers out with a full english. took the morning easy and didn't leave for town until 3pm when it started to rain so we stopped in a few shops then headed for the Golden Slipper, the first of York's pubs on our impromptu pub crawl. Then it was the..cinema bar I think, then the Golden Star, then the Rook and Gaskill? Might have missed out a place or two...then home for a chinese takeaway and music. Sunday 30th May - Ate leftover chinese for breakfast (well, lunch really) and sat about most of the day undecided what to do and just generally hanging out, spending time. Then friends came round, we drank unpronouncable greek stuff, beer and ate Maltesers before finally deciding to go to the Rook and Gaskill again. Beer and rum later, we went to Little John's for late drinks. Well, Jaeger bombs, which finished me off and we went home. Thankfully my fella could undo my shoes and put me to bed :) Monday 31st May - Woke up feeling surprisingly alright and spent the whole day slouching on the sofa, drinking tea, snacking and watching tv until it was time for my train home :(. Spent my entire journey reading 'Burton on Burton' which made me feel better.
