| Retro Weekender - Friday |
|
Friday 27th February - It was a friends birthday party tonight and as usual he had gone all out and hired a swanky room in Norwich's newest trendy bar 'Noir' in which to host a 50's theme bash. It was upstairs in the decadent looking parlour style room, which had been decorated with pink and white balloons, including a very retro balloon archway, complete with gilt mirrors, candelabra & chaise longe. A friend had crafted a tower of iced cupcakes, topped with sweets from our childhood - including Fudge fingers and Curly Wurly's - with edible glitter sprinkled over and displayed on a huge tiered cake stand.
I was there dolled up in my Stop Staring polka-dot dress and red shoes, with the Lady C in Vivien of Holloway.
We danced the night away, and rolled our eyes at the townies downstairs in the main bar trying to get our attention by saying we looked like 'insert-famous-retro-chick-here'. Tired and danced-out we headed home when the staff finally had to ask us all to leave and I finished off my eveing in inimitable style with a fish finger sandwich. Class.

Rock and roll, swing and jive music played all night and eveyone in attendance had dressed up in petticoats, side-parted slicked hair and bow ties.
