| Norwich Body Art Festival - Day 1 |
|
Saturday 15th August -
Got up in plenty of time and put on my favourite Vivien of Holloway dress and my hair was still in place from Amy's styling yesterday so I was good to go and start my first day hosting the Body Art Festival!  I arrived at St Andrews Hall before the doors opened and people were already queuing to get in! After putting Lady C on the guest list I familiarised myself with the two stages and the days' running order - I would be introducing each act, presenting awards and hosting auctions over the next two days. Acts included the Hot Boppin Girls, (above) an award winning local burlesque troupe who actually did burlesque properly and made a comedy routine with a little theme or storyline involved and who were always entertaining to watch, a corset catwalk from Boobie Trap and a musical comedy routine from the Silky Pair which was hilarious despite the dodgy accoustics of Blackfriars Hall. The BBC also stopped me, in between announcements, and asked me to take part in their 'BBC Voices' project which involved taking my picture and asking me some questions with the aim of challenging peoples preconceptions. The photos were going to be projected all week long at the Norwich Forum!! Anyone wanting some fresh air (it was boiling!) headed outside to check out the Grafitti Jam - 8 huge canvases and 8 pro artistist creating art all through the day - and those not comitting to some ink could get their hair done or buy some tatoo-esque clothes instead. half way through the proceedings I had to announce that we had sold all tickets and that the venue was at a capacity. Yay! A very successful day followed by some very successful beers at the Ten Bells before collapsing in a big heap to rest for the next day... Â
