Punk Rock and Camp Cabaret
Thursday 23rd July -

I was reviewing The Dickies tonight for Outline Magazine so my friend and I headed to the Waterfront and for once got there in time to catch the first band.

'Love and a .45' were girl fronted punk from london and the second support act, Vanilla Pod, were local boys who I'd seen many times before who always put on a good show. The Dickies were just as crazy as ever and left my face aching from laughing so much. Their act involved blow-up dolls and hand puppets. You can read the full review on the Outline website very soon!

Friday 24th july -

Today was the first day of Norwich Pride Week and there were events going on all over the city – movies, club nights, exhibitions – and this evening there was 'Camp it up Cabaret' at the Arts Centre.

I got dolled up in Vivien of Holloway and curled my hair, my friend had a brand new corset from Black Lace and we looked fab. I was working for Outline Magazine again but this time I was taking photographs of everyone in attendance and some of the performers too!

The night was hosted by Felicity Flappes, larger than life drag queen, and showcased burlesque, circus tricks, puppets, singers and comedians including a guy who sang opera while stripping. Ginger Snaps did a cute cheese cake style burlesque show as did the Hot Boppin Girls and Madame Maddi Cassell combined comedy with accordian! A truly original night for Norwich, professionally organised and a delight to attend. Photos on the website soon!! As the evening came to a close we headed to The Marquee for a beverage or two and then home.

Saturday 25th July -

Today was fairly quiet compared to my typical saturday, I did some routine, boring house things (laundry, cleaning, buying magazines and flowers) then got ready to be my friends +1 at her friends wedding reception later that evening. I also had to help my brother with his costume for the 'Tortured Cabaret' night at Take 5 – he had taken a Little Britain 'I'm a lady' wig and turned it into a Louis 16th hair do with his ruffle shirt, brocade jacket and some of my Grandmas old costume jewelry. After making an appearance at the wedding we met friends in our regular, had some shots and played our favourite songs on the juke box. I also bumped into Reverend Trudgill from The Rotted – I must remember to send him a copy of Devolution with him in. A thankfully early night leaving me without a hangover for a very lazy Sunday.
